What a show it was last week! Thanks to all of the dealers and DealerTrack partners that recently joined me and the DealerTrack team at Digital Dealer 10 conference in Orlando, FL. The show was a great success, with over 1,000 dealers in attendance. There was lots of buzz around many topics, including how dealers can drive more showroom traffic and more effectively manage their used vehicle inventory.
Also, thanks to all of the dealers and partners that attended my speaking session on the four steps to used vehicle profitability. At the session, we discussed new strategies and ideas to maximize gross while improving turns in the used vehicle management equation. We also focused on how dealers can identify the right vehicles for their dealership in this very tough and competitive market. It’s all about finding the right vehicles based on both your store’s performance as well as what is actually selling and making money in the market!
Towards the end of the session, a dealer asked if he should wholesale units that he is going to have to pay more for at the auction. My response was to evaluate core vs. non- core and obviously how old that car is. We do have to consider market volatility when making these fact based decisions.
